🎉 February is Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month! 🎉

To celebrate, Pocahontas County High School hosted a CTE Program Fair featuring several of our incredible community partners. This event gave students the chance to explore local career pathways and learn more about the hands-on programs available right here in Pocahontas County.

A huge THANK YOU to our presenters:
👮‍♂️ Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office
🏥 Pocahontas Memorial Hospital
🧪 Denmar Correctional Center
🎓 New River Community and Technical College

Students had the opportunity to engage with professionals and explore topics such as:
🔹 Nursing
🔹 Criminal Justice
🔹 Phlebotomy
🔹 Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
🔹 …and so much more!

We appreciate our partners for investing their time and expertise into our students. Together, we’re helping them discover their interests, build real-world skills, and plan for exciting futures in high-demand fields. 💛💼💡

An update from PCS Superintendent, Dr. Leatha Williams:

Good Afternoon Families and Community Members, Earlier today, an issue was reported in the Green Bank community that resulted in Green Bank Elementary-Middle School and Pocahontas County High School entering into a secured lockdown stage. Our principals and staff followed all safety protocols. At no time was there any danger on either of our school campuses. Our response to assess the situation and ensure the safety of all students and staff was immediate. I would like to express my gratitude to the State Troopers, the Sheriff’s Office, and our School Safety Officer for their swift response and their continued commitment to the safety of Pocahontas County Schools. Best regards, Dr. Williams
