I want to take this opportunity to recognize, thank, and show my deepest appreciation to the teachers of Pocahontas County during this National Teacher Appreciation Week celebration.
Working in education is very rewarding, very challenging, and all too often a thankless and unappreciated career. I want all of our employees to know that there are still many people in our community that respect and appreciate you for your tireless efforts and the attention that you pay to their children.
The past two years have been unprecedented in its complexity and uncertainty. But be that as it may, you have consistently done your jobs, educated your students, and navigated a very unusual time in our history.
I cannot thank you enough for all that you do. You have my utmost respect and support.
With much appreciation
Terrence C. Beam, Superintendent

This message is on behalf of Jenny Friel, Pocahontas County Schools School NUrse. With all of the recent changes in regard to COVID and the guidelines, I wanted to send a brief message to try and clear up a few things. Pocahontas County Schools does not have a mask mandate. Therefore, if a student or staff member is exposed to someone that tests positive for COVID, quarantining is required unless the person that is exposed wore a mask or was 6 feet away from the positive person or not around them for greater than 15 minutes. In addition to these protocols, if a person is fully vaccinated or has had COVID within the last 90 days, they would not have to quarantine. Please understand that each case is looked at individually due to the many factors that must be investigated. Currently, wearing a mask is the mitigation strategy that prevents quarantining as a result of exposure.

Beginning on Friday, February 4 and ending on Friday, February 18, parents and employees will be asked to participate in the annual School Calendar Survey for the 2022-2023 school year.
