💰 SMART529 Fund the Future Sweepstakes Opportunity 💰
The West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office (WVSTO) announced the Fund the Future Sweepstakes on April 1, 2025. One lucky West Virginia child will win a $15,000 SMART529 College Savings account. Children must be 17 years of age or younger to enter. Deadline is Friday, May 16, 2025. The entry form and official sweepstakes rules can be found at www.wvtreasury.gov/fundthefuture.
Research shows that children, with even a small amount of college savings, are 2.5 times more likely to graduate from college. We hope our sweepstakes inspires families to learn about the SMART529 College Savings Program and start planning for their child’s educational future. Funds saved in a SMART529 account aren’t just limited to paying for college – the funds can also be used for apprenticeship programs as well as vocational and trade schools across the United States and even some foreign institutions.

We 💜our military families!
Please join us our district schools to show support to military-connected families with a spirit week April 7-11.
About "Purple Up Month"
During April, the Department of Defense Education Activity and school systems across the country honor the courage and resiliency of military-connected children by celebrating the Month of the Military Child or “Purple Up Month." Purple is used to recognize military children from all branches because it represents a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and blue from the Coast Guard, Air Force, and Navy.

Mrs. Hughes' 1st period, Math I, class completed a Fermi problem (A Fermi problem is a problem that involves making a justified estimation about quantities, degrees, probabilities, or variances.) concerning the quantity of balloons needed to fill Mrs. Scotchie's Office. Calculations suggested over a thousand. Sadly, time limited us to just several hundred. But we persevered and pranked Mrs. Scotchie for April Fool's Day!

Please make sure you turn your permission form and money into Ms. Hill in the morning for the reward trip. Thank you!

🌟 Shout out to our amazing community, staff and students! 🌟 Thank you for coming together to support the flood victims in southern WV! 🙌 Just look at the incredible items collected to help our fellow Mountaineers recover from the recent flooding. 😍 Donated items were delivered to the McDowell County Board of Education office on 3/27 by Ms. Tritapoe and Mrs. Wilfong. In addition to the donated goods, MMS and PCHS hosted penny drives to collect monetary donations for victims that were also delivered. McDowell County staff were FLOORED by the generosity of our county and were deeply appreciative of our efforts! 💙 #CommunityStrong #WVRecovery #MountaineerPride #WVStrong #GreatThingsFromPC
